Garden Center Weekend Cashier
REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
This position is focused on customer service through inspiration, innovation, and problem resolution, and is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people in a seasonal environment. Duties include conducting a variety of transactions, handling cash, and answering phones.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet and greet each customer as they enter the store
- Product knowledge and ability to make suggestions as necessary
- Answer phones professionally
- Perform all necessary POS transactions including sales, returns, and help facilitate custom orders.
- Explain our email program and sign up new members
- Clean, dust and organize register and store area, including the outside retail areas
- Assist with building and maintaining displays and features
- Other duties as needed

- Strong communication (written, oral and interpersonal skills)
- Strong organizational skills

- Excel in a fast-paced, evolving work environment
- Familiar with standard concepts and practices within the retail environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing for long periods of time
- Heavy and repetitive lifting (no more than 50 lbs)
- Bending, carrying, and pushing
- Exposure to extreme variation in temperatures
